Trevor Olan Marquis was born the afternoon of January 18, 1991 in Portales, New Mexico. As a young child, Trevor was truly a unique and gifted soul. He had remarkable curiosity about the world around him, always seeking to learn something new, just for the sake of discovering more about the world around him. He was truly the smartest person I knew. I always admired the way his mind could soak in new information and hold on to that knowledge. I often had to remind him when he tried to teach me random things that I am not as smart as he is and he would need to explain things to me so I could understand what he was saying. His gift of knowledge about so many things was truly special.
Trevor was naturally artistic and could draw and create amazing things from an early age. He often reminded us when we tried to draw with him that we were not very good at drawing. Trevor had a incredible gift for computers and technology and was drawn to the complexity of that world. His intelligence, imagination, and problem-solving abilities truly shined brightly. Gaming was another passion that brought him joy, and he especially enjoyed playing games with Reagan.
Trevor was a quite and private person, but behind that quietness was a deep thinker with a rich inner world. He never preferred to be around a large group of people and never wanted to be in the spotlight, but instead found meaning in learning and understanding the world of quiet that he created for himself. When Trevor did have something to say, it often held great meaning. And though he never tried to be funny, his wit is something I will miss greatly. As his mother, I was blessed to witness the unique and special person that he was. I saw his intelligence, his curiosity, his creativity, and the way his mind worked amazed me. Throughout life, Trevor was true to himself and never wanted to be a burden on others.
Although his life was shorter than any parent could ever be prepared for, the years we shared are filled with memories and love. Trevor leaves behind a legacy not measured by how many people knew his name but by the depth of who he was; a brilliant mind, a curious spirit, and a truly unforgettable soul.
Trevor is survived by his parents, Tammy and Shown Wood, and father, Stacy Marquis, his two siblings, Reagan and Maia, and bonus brother Kash Wood, his Mamaw, Pat Shearer, and two cousins Cesiley and Laeten Stroud. Trevor is preceded in death by his Papa, Dickie Shearer, and two uncles, Dustin Shearer and Chad Stroud.
