July 10, 1948 – February 12, 2026
Vicki Lynn Lishman of Lubbock, Texas, was born on July 10, 1948, in Lubbock, Texas, where she was also raised. A proud West Texan, Vicki’s life was defined by dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to education and family. She passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026.
Vicki was the eldest of four girls, who carried her role as big sister with love and strength throughout her life. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1967, where she formed lifelong friendships and treasured reconnecting with classmates over lunch dates filled with laughter and memories. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 1971 and later earned her Master’s degree in Education.
Vicki began her career in education as a teacher in Lamesa before returning to Lubbock, where she served as a counselor at Lubbock High School for more than 30 years. She poured her heart into her work, going above and beyond for her students. Whether writing countless recommendation letters, making frequent trips to the post office to ensure they were mailed on time, or simply offering a listening ear, Vicki was devoted to helping young people find their path. She believed deeply in the power of continuing education and worked tirelessly to open doors of opportunity for others. Her impact on generations of students is immeasurable.
Vicki had a deep love for travel and adventure. She visited nearly all 50 states, especially cherishing family trips, camping, and much time spent outdoors. Among her favorite destinations were Switzerland and Southern Italy, where she admired the breathtaking landscapes and vineyards and enjoyed exploring museums rich in history and culture. She loved gathering with family and friends over meals and conversation, always bringing warmth and generosity wherever she went.
Family was the heart of Vicki’s life. She was a devoted aunt and great-aunt who never missed a graduation, celebration, or milestone. She took great pride in her role, and if you received a gift from Vicki, you could be certain it included a thoughtfully chosen book—no matter your age. She encouraged learning, curiosity, and growth in all those she loved.
Vicki enjoyed long walks, which she continued (to love nature) faithfully until the time of her passing. She found joy in simple pleasures—listening to oldies but goodies (rock and roll), sitting on the porch listening to the birds, and admiring wildflowers in bloom. She had a giving spirit, an open heart, and a quiet strength that touched everyone around her.
She is survived by her three sisters, Penny Crump of Rockwall, Karen Jones of Rockwall, and Janice Voight; nieces Angie Chanel of Panama City Beach, Florida (partner Jody and McKinlee), Amy Little of Rockwall, Texas (husband Chris and children Grant, Giby, and Ally), and April Anderson of San Marcos, Texas (partner Eric and Mariah); and nephew Matthew Voight. She also leaves behind the family's beloved dogs, who brought her constant companionship and joy.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, EV and Nell Lishman.
Vicki’s legacy lives on in the countless students she guided, the family she adored, and the lives and families she enriched through her kindness and dedication. She will be remembered for her wisdom, generosity, and the enduring love she gave so freely.
There will be a come and go gathering at Kent R Hance Chapel on 17th St. and University Ave. from 10am-12pm On Fri, Feb 20, 2026 at.
