

Ginny was born on February 2, 1932 to H.T. and Marci Caldwell in Channing, Texas. She graduated from Channing High School in 1948 at the age of 16. She earned her Bachelor in Education (1951) and her Masters in Counseling (1956) from West Texas State College in Canyon, Texas. She began her teaching career at South Elementary School in Levelland, Texas in 1951. She also taught in Dalhart, Texas before continuing her teaching career in Amarillo, Texas in 1955, and she retired in 1987. She taught at Will Rogers, Lamar, San Jacinto, Belmar, and Coronado Elementary Schools. It was while at Will Rogers Elementary School in August of 1958 that she met Merle Dickerson, who was also teaching at Will Rogers. They were married on October 25, 1958. After she retired, she then enjoyed volunteering at BSA Hospital.
While living in Amarillo, Ginny and Merle and the kids were very active at Kingswood Methodist Church, St. Paul Methodist Church, and Polk Street Methodist Church.
In 1991, Ginny and Merle moved to Lubbock, Texas. She spent time volunteering at the Lubbock Senior Citizens Center, Methodist Hospital, and Covenant Hospital. They were long-time members at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Dickerson, in May of 2020, and by her daughter, Betsy Dickerson, in September of 1982.
Ginny is survived by her sons, Rusty and wife Connie, and Marc; by her 5 grandchildren; by her 5 great-grandchildren; and by her cousins, nieces and nephews.
