Weldon Louis Preston

Weldon Louis Preston, 82, went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2021 at Covenant Hospital, surrounded by his wife and family, following a short illness.

Weldon was born on November 28, 1938 in Welch, TX to King and Cliff (Linn) Preston. A 1957 graduate of Frenship High School, he served in the U.S. Navy and attended Texas Tech University.

Weldon married the love his life, Pat (Hoopes) Preston on March 4, 1960 at Overton Methodist Church in Lubbock. They lived in Lubbock, where he owned a gas station, and Hale Center before making their permanent home in Wolfforth. He farmed for many years and had a distinguished career in farm equipment sales. He retired on January 30, 2009 from Warren Cat. He was also an auctioneer.

Weldon was a Christian and a faithful member of Wolfforth United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, Frenship School Board, Wolfforth Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, Young Farmers, and was a founding member of Wolfforth Caregivers. He was a great storyteller and made everyone he met feel welcome and happy. Those who knew him experienced him as a great man who was honest, loyal, kind, fair, and loving.

Weldon is survived by his wife Pat; sons James of Buffalo Grove IL, and Lee (Shea) of Fischer TX; daughter, Branda (Jake) Pavlas of Eddy TX; grandchildren: Madeleine, Jakey, Braylin, Jadyn, Ashley (Matthew), Ashlee (Shane), and Chris; great-grandchildren: Faith, Ezra, Asher, Aidan, Isabella and Nico; as well as many cousins, in-laws, nephews, and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth and Donald; sister, Mary Watson; and many other family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to: Wolfforth United Methodist Church, the American Diabetes Association, or Wolfforth Caregivers (P.O. Box 114, Wolfforth, TX 79382).

There will be a private burial service for immediate family.

My heart and prayer are for you, James, Lee and Branda. I have so many fond memories of Weldon and the great impact he had on everyone around him. I was blessed to have many great role models growing up and Weldon was one of those. May God watch over you and provide peace and comfort during this difficult time.
