

Willena Wilkinson Hurt, 89, went home to be with the Lord May 10, 2012. A private burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park at noon Saturday, May 12, 2012 with a public memorial service at 1 p.m. at Resthaven. Reverend Fred Baker will officiate. Willena was born Oct. 24, 1922 in Whiteflat, Texas to Kimbrough and Belle Wilkinson. She graduated from Matador High School in 1940 and attended Texas Tech. She married Roland Hurt in 1947. She was a sweet, spiritual woman and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was loved by her family and friends. She was a member of Forrest Heights United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She has gone to a much better place. Survivors include her husband, Roland and her two sons, Steve Hurt and wife Debbie of Lubbock, Stan Hurt and wife, the late Gray Hurt of Beaufort, S.C. She is also survived by her five granddaughters, Heather Hurt McDonald and husband, Eric of Lubbock and their children, Harrison and Ella Bennett; Bethany Hurt of Lubbock; Haley Hurt Wagstaff and husband Daniel of Dallas, Texas and their daughter, Lola; Ashley Hurt Callen and husband Greg of Arlington, Va. and their children, Charlie, Caroline and G.; and Hope Hurt Wheeler and her husband Steve of Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Hurt of Lubbock and her sister, Camella Strickland.
