

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 6, 2011, at St. John’s United Methodist Church with Pastor Archie Echols officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Bill was born on April 6, 1927, in Ringling, Oklahoma, to the late Finley Boon and Ruth (Haney) Pierson. He married Myra Bigony on July 2, 1948, in Lubbock at St. John’s United Methodist Church. He served in the Army during World War II. Bill was a man of integrity and was a very devoted father and husband. His greatest family memory was taking his whole family to Hawaii for his and Myra’s 50th wedding anniversary. He worked as a private investigator for 35 years. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, and anything that dealt with aeronautics.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Edwards.
Those left to cherish Bill’s memories include his wife of 63 years, Myra Pierson of Lubbock; three children: William James Pierson, Jr. of Irving, Teresa Elizabeth Dorch and husband George S. of Friendswood, and Weldon Thomas Pierson and wife Marianne of Flower Mound; two granddaughters: Lauren and Christina; and a great granddaughter, Madison Elise.
