Willie Lee Sumner

Willie Lee Sumner, 87, of Lubbock passed away on September 9, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 5PM to 7PM at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating her life will be Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 10:00AM in Resthaven Funeral Home Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Willie Sumner was born on October 16, 1933 in Byars, Oklahoma to the late Benjamin and Flora (Moss) Henagar. She was married to the love of her life Delbert Sumner on June 6, 1951. They were married for 62 years.

Willie was a loving hard working mom and housewife always taking care of her children, preserving produce from the beautiful garden and making sure everyone had what they needed. She was a fabulous cook always keeping her family well fed. Her greatest love was being surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Sumner, son Roger Sumner, sister Alma Winn, and brother James Henagar.

She is survived by her daughter Leah Daves, son Brian Sumner, and daughter Nancy Cheek and husband Jett; grandchildren Logan Daves and wife Libby, Kacie Beaver and husband Chad, Hannah Woods and husband Cole, and Rebekah Cheek; six beautiful great grandchildren that loved their Memaw: Reagan, Cale, Zane, Emma, Sutton, and Chase. She is also survived by her siblings Ben, Harrold, Carrold, Donnie and Marquita and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
