Survived by her loving sister-in-law Opal and her husband Gene Shepard.
Both Wayne and Lynn were superb artists, achieving higher education in music and art respectively, always striving to teach and share the world of the arts to our Texas children. They worked as teachers in Bovina and San Angelo TX, Oklahoma City, OK and finally in Lubbock TX. It was in Lubbock that Zonalynn was able to fulfill a dream, growing the Lubbock school system from zero art teachers to a department of 64 art teachers from the years 1973-1988. This was, for her, the most important contribution for her academic career.
Art and music budget cuts pushed them to early retirement in 1988. Wayne died in Lubbock in 1990 and Zonalynn remarried in 1992 and moved to Sequin, WA. She moved to Dallas with her son David and passed after 4 years. She was loved by her caregivers and everyone who had the pleasure to know her. Always a lady, without complaints, with a strong personal desire to maintain composure, and always with a positive attitude. She was loved and respected. Despite many challenges, she always remained hopeful and loving. "Fair to Midlin' ". She will be missed.
