

Gladys “Bunny” Strong, age 92 passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday July 7, 2015. Gladys was born in Waterloo, NY Sept. 5, 1922 the daughter of George and Gladys (Carter) Paige. She attended Black River Academy and graduated with the class of 1940. Gladys served her country during WWII with the United States Marine Corps stationed in Camp Lejune, NC. She received her Honorable Discharge August 9, 1944.
She was married to her husband Richard Strong for 72 years.
Gladys was a lifelong member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ludlow where she served on the church Parish Council. She was a member of the American Legion Post #36, Ludlow. She was also a Member and Past President of the American Legion Unit #36 Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Gladys was a 50 year member of the Black River Rod and Gun Club. She loved to play bingo and was an avid Red Sox and NASCAR fan.
Gladys leaves behind many friends and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Richard, two daughters, Kathleen “Trina” O’Loughlin of Fairview, Texas, Jean Strong of Ludlow, VT, and her son Jeffery Strong and his wife Lisa of Perkinsville. She is also survived by 7 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was predeceased by her parents and was the last remaining sibling of 15.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers and the Visiting Nurses and Hospice who helped care for their mother.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday July 13, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Annunciation, Ludlow. Graveside committal services with military honors will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Ludlow. A reception will follow the graveside service at the American Legion Post # 36, Ludlow.
