On July 11, 1959, Iggy married Anne C. Seward in Wallingford. He was employed at General Electric from 1956 until 1991. His first job was as a bench hand. Two years later he moved to the toolroom running a lathe. After a two-year stint in the toolroom, he then became a press set-up person. In 1965 he took a position in Rutland as a foreman in the small engine toll gate area. A year later he moved into engineering. He was a member of the Masons, the Shriners, the Elk Club, the Lions Club, the American Legion, the United Church of Ludlow, and the Black River Booster Club.
An active sportsman, he participated in both competitive basketball and softball, and was an avid Boston Celtics and Red Sox fan. He brought his love of sports back to Ludlow, helping to create the local Little League program for area children. He umpired games and assisted in fundraising to keep the program going. As his children grew Iggy coached the local Babe Ruth baseball team, the Black River Varsity Softball team, and also assisted locals by becoming an instructor for the Vermont Hunter Safety Course.
Iggy loved nature and was always out hunting, fishing, or snowmobiling. He also loved to pick (and give away) many quarts of blackberries, fiddleheads, and mushrooms.
After retiring, he and his wife Anne bought a second property in Bradenton, Florida, where they would spend some of their winters. This also allowed them to play an active part in their grandchildren’s lives, both in Vermont and Florida.
