

Joan Esther (Wortman) Ciufo 78 of Ludlow passed away with her beloved husband by her side on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Springfield Hospital. Born and raised in Belmont, VT the daughter of William and Esther Wortman, Joan graduated from Black River High School in 1956. Joan married her high school sweet heart Salvadore Ciufo in 1958 and raised their 3 sons while residing in Ludlow, VT.
Employed at General Electric in Rutland, VT Joan retired after 20 years. During her retirement, Joan worked part time for her dear friend at Marion’s Flower Shop. A member of Annunciation Church, Joan was very active with her parish volunteering her time and always willing to assist others with a smile. Joan’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, cooking during the holidays and summer picnics. Most of all, Joan treasured time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the joy of her life.
Survived by her husband Salvadore, brother Timothy and sister-in law Patricia Wortman of Roanoke, VA, her three sons Tommy and daughter in-law Wendy, Teddy and daughter in-law Yvonne, Terry and daughter in-law Judy; Her Six grandchildren, Shawn Ciufo, Tristan (Ciufo) Lanfear, Terry Jr., and Michael Ciufo, Bryce and Tanner Ciufo; Her great grandchildren, Knox and Stellan Lanfear also several nieces and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her sisters Ina Evans and Jean Garrow.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday Nov.18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Church of the Annunciation in Ludlow. Graveside committal services and Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall.
Calling hours will be on Monday Nov. 17th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Adams Funeral Home 12 Meadow St. Ludlow.
