
Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday September 24, 2011 in the Lumberton City Cemetery for Ada Margaret Carver Bounds, 86, of Arlington, Texas formerly of Lumberton, Mississippi who died Friday September 9, 2011 in Arlington, Texas.
She was born Ada Margaret Carver on July 27, 1925, to Charlie and Estelle Carver of Poplarville, Miss. She was a 1942 graduate of Poplarville High School and a 1946 graduate of Mississippi State College for Women. Ada taught school in Meridian, Miss., from 1946-1949. On July 1, 1949, she married Don M. Bounds and moved to Lumberton, Miss., where she lived and taught school from 1949-1980. She also held master's degrees in chemistry, physical education and guidance counseling.
Upon her retirement from public education in 1980, Ada moved to Kiln, Miss. She remained on Bayou Talla until August 2005. From August 2005 until her death, she lived with her younger son, Rand, and her daughter-in-law, Susan, in Arlington. Ada loved her pets, reading, working crossword puzzles and watching tennis, baseball, football and basketball. In her later years, she developed a love of travel and took several trips each year. She was a lifelong supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Survivors include two sons, Don Bounds and his wife Diane of Kiln, MS. and Rand Bounds and his wife Susan of Arlington, TX; two grandchildren, Randa Fingleton and her husband Brian of Yonkers, NY and Justin Bounds and his wife Kiley of Arlington, TX; one step-granddaughter, Kelsey Arguelles of Kiln, MS; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Bounds and Beaux Bounds, both of Arlington, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Estelle Carver; her brothers, Tom Cary and Charlie Carver; and her beloved husband, Don Bounds. Ada died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.
