Arthur Guy Smith Sr.

A much loved Husband, Father, and Grandfather; Arthur Guy Smith, Sr. of Lumberton, MS passed away March 31, 2013 at Forrest General Hospital in the presence of his family. He was born August 23, 1923 in Poplarville, MS and was a resident of Lumberton, MS for over 51 years.

Guy retired after 24 years of service in the United States Army. Additionally, he served in the Merchant Marine, United States Navy, and Army National Guard. An active member of First Baptist Church of Lumberton; he was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Freemasonry; and was a professional bird dog trainer from Canada to the Southern United States.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lottie Ladner Smith; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Vivian Smith; one son, Arthur Guy Smit, Jr. and his wife Donis; one daughter, Barbara Smith Thomas; three grandchildren, Amy, Miles, and Samantha; and ten great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, April 5, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Lumberton with burial following in Lumberton City Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to services, Friday at the church.
