Karen Denita Shorrosh

Karen Denita Martin Shorrosh, age 66, passed away on March 26th, 2023 at Asbury Hospice House. A Homegoing memorial service to honor her life will be held on April 1st, 2023 at Sunny Hill Pentecostal Church of Purvis, MS. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with the service to follow. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for this celebration of her life.

Denita was born to Leland and Mavis Martin and lived a life full of faith, love, and compassion. She was a devoted Christian who found great joy in helping others and spreading the love of Jesus through everything she did. She deeply cared for each person that crossed her path and it could easily be said that she was one of the sweetest ladies this world has ever known.

Denita is survived by her daughter, Sonja Baker (Tim); son, Meisho Shorrosh (Sara); her six grandchildren, Jonathan Isaac Malone, Krystal Anna Baker, Brock Michael Baker, Ezekiel Fawzy Shorrosh, Eden Leigh Shorrosh, and Eliah Kathryn Shorrosh; her sister, Elaine Talley (Jimmy) and her brother, Eddie Martin (Joan).

Denita was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donnie Martin (Shirley).

Denita cherished every moment spent with family, especially with her grandchildren who held a very special place in her heart. She was also known as “Mama Dee” to many “adopted” children throughout her life. She was a dedicated nurse of 30 years and put her heart and soul into treating every patient as if they were family. She touched the lives of many through this calling and never wavered on her commitment of serving others. She was an avid dog lover (especially loved little Jimmy and Bodie) and enjoyed tending to her pet chickens.

Denita will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The pain and suffering she endured for so many years have now eternally ceased!

The battle has been won…The victory belongs to the Lord…She is now resting in the arms of Jesus!
