Margie Y. Smith, age 86, of Lumberton, Mississippi passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022.

Margie was born April 10, 1936. She was a homemaker and a devoted member of Caney Baptist Church. Margie was deeply committed to her family and enjoyed fishing and taking trips to the Smoky Mountains. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Willie Rose Jones; her beloved husband, Dewey Smith; one great granddaughter, Rylee Mae Brant; and three siblings, Thomas Dale Jones, Clara Nell Lowe, and Ela Ruth Manale.

Family members include her four children, Sandra (Allen) Holifield, Ricky (Martha) Smith, Connie (Lonnie) Slocum, Ronda (Marion) Holcombe; eight grandchildren, Brittany (Chris) Brant, Ashley (David) Entrekin, Haleigh Smith, Heather (Shelton) Bounds, Michael (Sally) Craft, Dakotah Holcombe, Colton Holcombe, Bryson Holcombe. Ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive.

Services will be held at Caney Baptist Church (13 Luther Saucier Road, Lumberton, MS, 39455) on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 10:00 am. Brother Roger Miller will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and have visitation on Wednesday evening, from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm, at the church.
