Ray Reid

Ray Reid of Lumberton, Mississippi departed this life into God’s presence on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the age of 80. He was a devoted man of God. Ray was a hardworking provider and a loving family man. He was a pillar of strength, faith and kindness, touching the lives of all who knew him. Ray helped build Oak Hill Apostolic Church of Purvis, Mississippi and a member for over 20 years before becoming a member of Lee town Holiness Church. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord, working diligently to provide for his family and sharing love and wisdom with those around him. His unwavering faith guided his every step, and his deep love for his family was evident in all he did. Ray will deeply be missed by all who knew him.

Preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Joy Katherine Reid Burkhalter; second wife, Bertha Head Reid; parents, Charlie and Vada Mae Reid; two daughters, Janice Reid and Dana Reid; one granddaughter, Roxane Reid; four brothers, Bennie, Charles, Boyd and Lloyd Reid.

Left to forever cherish his memory are his two daughters; Katharene Fairley and Sadie Walters; five grandsons, Justin Ladner, James Ladner, Joe Fairley, Javas Walters and Jared Walters; 10 great-grandchildren, Carmen Walters, Crimson Walters, Cali Walters, Jaxson Walters, Janice Ladner, Iva, Isaac, Noah, Tyler Morrison and Mikayla Morrison; one great-great-grandson, Kingston Eaton; one brother, Roger Reid and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation for Ray on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at White Funeral Home, 315 Hwy 11 South, Poplarville, Mississippi. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 10:00 am at White Funeral Home, Poplarville, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery, Purvis, Mississippi with Joe Fairley, Justin Ladner, James Ladner, Javas Walters, Jared Walters and Ronnie Walley serving as pallbearers.
