Virginia Atwood Hurt

Virginia Atwood Hurt passed away at the age of 86 on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. She was a lifelong resident of Lumberton, MS, a homemaker, and a member of First Baptist Church, Lumberton. Mrs. Hurt was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lynn Stuckey; parents, John Atwood and Donzie Brown Atwood; and brother, Steve Atwood. Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband, Luther Hurt of Lumberton; daughters, Melonie Odom (Tom) of Hattiesburg, MS, and Jenny Whitten (Homer) of Lumberton; a son, Mike Hurt (Shirl) of Lumberton; a brother, Bill Atwood (Ann) of Covington, LA; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Lumberton City Cemetery with Reverend Jessie Ladner, officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to White Funeral Home, Lumberton.
