

Ms. Lowery was born in Robeson County on August 7, 1929 to the late Ras and Mattie L. Lowery.
She was a member of The Rock Church of God, and one of the last charter members of Hestertown Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Lowery; sons, James Ellis Lowery, Boyd Lowery, Robert Earl Lowery, Ray Lowery, and Jerry Lowery; brothers, Thomas and Luther Lowery; and sisters, Caroline Walters and Cletius Oxendine.
Left to cherish her memories are sons, William Ted Lowery and wife Mable of Lumberton, David Earl Lowery and wife Faye of Rowland, Johnny Lowery and wife Robin of Lumberton, and Ricky Lowery of the home; daughter, Betty L. Locklear and husband Lynn of Pembroke; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mazel Collins, Hazel Johnson, and Annie D. Hunt of Lumberton, and Ethel Revels of Pembroke; brothers, Kenneth Lowery of Pembroke, Joseph Lowery of Lumberton, and Donald Lowery of Freemont, Ohio; and a special nurse and friend, Sharon Sampson.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at The Rock Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Rock Church of God with Rev. Roosevelt Scott, Rev. Ronald Scott, and Rev. Henry Oxendine officiating.
Burial will take place in Lowery Family cemetery on Dew Road in Rowland, NC.
