Edward Raymond Musselwhite Sr.

Mr. Musselwhite was born December 30, 1934 in Bladen County. His parents were Edward Wesley and Ella Ruth DeVane Musselwhite and stepmother Ruby Smith Musselwhite. He was reared by Rev. R. L. Byrd and wife Elizabeth Fisher Byrd and their daughter Daisy M. Byrd and family. Mr. Musselwhite was preceded in death by His parents and Brothers, Baxter S. Musselwhite and Douglas (Mac) Musselwhite.

Mr. Musselwhite is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lenora Powers Musselwhite; sons, Edward Raymond Musselwhite, Jr. of Pennsylvania, Robert Neal Musselwhite and wife Helen of Lumberton, and Raymond Bundy Musselwhite and wife Amory of St. Pauls; daughter, Daisy “Leigh” Waters and husband B. G. of Washington, NC; grandchildren, Erica and Madison Waters of Washington, NC, and John Coviller of Charleston, SC; great grandchildren, Taleigha Hunt and Jacey Kinlaw; brothers, Murray Musselwhite of Lumberton, andPhillip Musselwhite of St. Pauls; sisters, Geraldine “Gerri” Odom of Fayetteville, Joyce Purvis of Lumberton, Augusta Britt of St. Pauls, Camille McLean of Norfolk, VA, and Pat Davis of Denver, NC; and sisters-in-laws, Carol M. Williams and Margaret Musselwhite.

Funeral services were held at 2pm Monday, April 18, 2011, at Tolarsville Baptist Church in St. Pauls, with Rev. Michael Williams and Rev. C. Paul Jones officiating. Mr. Musselwhite was laid to rest in Tolarsville Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends from 6 to 8pm. on Sunday April 17, 2011 at Biggs Funeral Home in Lumberton, N.C, and at other time at the home.
