Elsie Marie Hymel Abadie

Elsie Marie Hymel Abadie, a native of Wallace and a resident of Vacherie, passed away January 13, 2015 at the age of 80. Elsie was the loving wife of more than 59 years of A.J. Abadie, beloved and devoted mother and mother-in-law to Paul Abadie (Gretal), Jeanne Bienvenu (David), Angela Graugnard (Brian), and Gay Cain. She was the proud grandmother of Amber Abadie, Dr. Emily Bienvenu, Stephanie B. Kleinpeter (Michael), Dr. Erin G. Rushing (Walter), Aimee Graugnard, Michael Graugnard, Eli Cain and one great-grandchild Bennett Rushing. She is also survived by her sisters; Mabel Clement, Marjorie Tregre (Ted), Rita Simon (Peddy), her brother Edward Hymel Jr. (Kate), sisters-in-law; Marie Peyton and Bernadette Roussel, and a brother-in-law Noel Zeringue.

Elsie is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Leona Hymel, sisters Beulah Weber (Ben), Nora Roussell (E.J.), and Ann Rome (Rumsey). Brothers-in-law; Vernon Clement, Bill Peyton, Harry Roussel, Donald (Genevieve), Russell, Frank, and Dudley Abadie and her sister-in-law Thelma A. Zeringue.

We would like to thank the staff at Ashton Manor, their loving care partners and Haydel Hospice for the care they gave our sweet Elsie.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Vacherie, LA from 8:30 until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM.
