

James “Jim” Nicholas Schexnayder, 82, a native and lifelong resident of Grand Point, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at his home. Visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 8:30am starting with a rosary until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Interment in St. Joseph Catholic Church mausoleum. He is survived by his three daughters: Sheila Tregre(Jerry), Julia Aubert(Peter), and Sonia Louque(Joey); stepson Robert Cool; ten grandchildren; Ryan Tregre, Jonathan Tregre, Lauren Deroche, Jennie Kelly, Jessica Aubert, Justin Aubert, Kelly Magendie, Amanda Louque, Aimiee Louque, and Suzanne Louque; thirteen great grandchildren, a brother Nelson “Pie” Schexnayder, and two sisters; Ester Mae Oubre and Dolores Catoire. He was preceded in death by his wife Florence Booth Schexnayder, his parents; Yolande Schexnayder and Beatrice “Bat” Louque Schexnayder, grandchild Joey Nicholas Louque, sister Mary Jane Becnel, and brother Carroll Schexnayder. Jim was a master carpenter and building contractor, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Known for his playful wit he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, working in his garden, and especially wood working. The family would also like to extend special thanks to the Amedisy’s Hospice.
