Alice Thane Noel

Alice Thane Noel, 92, of Forest, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 22, 2014, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Arthur Raymond Noel, Sr. Born July 20, 1921, in Port Chester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Marius Brown Thane and the late Margaret Iversen Thane. Alice was a graduate of Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing in Connecticut, where she pursued her career of nursing. She then furthered her career at Virginia Baptist Hospital, Randolph Macon Infirmary and Camelot Hall Nursing Home. She was a member of Faith Assembly. She was also a member of the Timbrook Women’s Club and a volunteer at nursing homes. Alice was also the author of over 300 songs for the Lord. In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was preceded in death by a son, Charles Thane Noel. Alice is survived by two sons, Arthur R. Noel, Jr. of Beach Park, IL and Christopher T. Noel and wife Nina of Montgomery Village, MD; three daughters, Charlene Powell and husband George of Forest, Cheryl Elaine Noel of Lynchburg and Diane Merri Noel of Appomattox County; daughter-in-law, Aniko Noel of Woodbridge; and six grandchildren, Catherine Bush and husband Darrell, Nicholas T. Powell, Audra Powell, Raymond Noel, Jeffrey Noel and Carla Noel. A graveside service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Briarwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Mack Almond officiating. The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
