

Ann T. Nichols of Forest, passed away, Saturday, February 26, 2011. With her strong faith and loving family, she fought a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Ann was the devoted wife of Robert “Nick” Nichols, Jr. for 28 years. She was born February 7 in Glenville, NC, to the late Dexter Delis Hooper and Faye Webster Hooper of Newport News.
Ann moved from Newport News to Lynchburg in 1974. She was a long time member of the Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene. She loved her church family. Also, as a resident of Lynchburg, she was employed in accounting with WLVA Radio Station, Oakwood Country Club, and the Harrington Corporation. Her other interests were Virginia Tech Football and her adored pets.
In addition to her parents, Ann is preceded in death by one brother, Oliver Franklin Hooper of Forest.
In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by two sons, Brian K. Thompson and his wife Vickie of San Antonio, TX and Rodney W. Thompson of Lynchburg; one grandson, Devin Thompson of Falmouth, MA; one brother, David Hooper and his wife Levon of Forest; six sisters, Billie Norwood of Williamsburg, Janie Harris, Clara Sabino and her husband Tony and Becky Crafford and her husband Joe of Lynchburg, Lynn Walker and her husband Zell of Suffolk and Lu Adams and her husband Jim of Birmingham, AL; sister-in-law, Patsy Hooper of Forest; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Stephen Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Mentoe Baptist Church Cemetery in Huddleston.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
