I just learned of Tony's passing yesterday. I am so very sorry to hear this. He was one of my favorite people even though I didn't see him often. I was on-call hairdresser for Whitten's for many years and Tony was always there to chat with me and keep me company as I worked. I was very fond of him.  I am sad to know he is no longer in this world but he will always be in my heart.


Teresa and family. We've never met but I want to tell you what an impact Tony had on me. He was a great friend and coworker. From the moment we met at Park Ave. we clicked. He made me feel welcome and part of the team from the very beginning. I grew to love him as a friend very quickly. We would talk, and joke and he would laugh at my NC accent. He always told me I was niiice (long i  sound and more than one syllable) real nice. 
It was a great privilege to know him and spend time talking with him. 
I miss him telling me I don't have to make cinnamon rolls or that white cake he loved, but they sure are delicious! I knew he really wanted them. I miss him laughing at something I'd said or done, then him saying, "really Jess?" 
My husband and I talk about him often and he tells me what an honor I had to get to know Tony and to be glad of the time we had as friends. 
To sum this up, I miss Tony very much.

I met Tony 12 years ago, when I was hired by Whitten Funeral Home. Tony was a great man. I enjoyed hearing him laugh. I use to show him dance moves from you tube and he picked them up fast. My favorite was when he did the "Dougie" I recorded him doing it and he caught me and made me delete it. I have laughed so hard through the years with Tony. Tony was a great man and a mentor to many people. I'm still shocked at the fact that your in heaven, but until we meet again, I will miss you so much 💖 

So sorry and shocked to hear Tony passed. Tony was such a good guy that I dated for 3 years when I was young. We spoke about 4 years ago just catching up about our lives. I have always felt blessed to have known and loved him for a short while long ago! Amazing family! Thinking of you all!

June, so sorry to learn about your son, Tony.  Years ago when I worked with you at People's Life, I remember he and Paul stopping by the office.    That was many years ago, 1977 if I recall.   But I still remember all of you.  Prayers to you.  

So sorry for the loss of Tony Minor. Prayers for his family and all if his  Co-workers . When you spend as much time together as morticians are and doing the work that they do day in and day out  it's really like losing a family member. They have to remain strong to help the families they serve. And I don't care how many they bury in one week , it's not easy just to walk away and on to the next. My daddy was a mortician for eighteen years and I grew up in it. Then I got married and went away to college with my first husband and we were married almost 25 yrs and it was just something you dealth with about every day. But, regardless it's never easy. God bless all of his Co-workers as well as his family.


Thank you my friend for over 25 years of unconditional friendship.  What an amazing person you were.  I'm gonna share all those special memories with June Bug and Teresa.  I know you have peace now.  Until we meet again, I'll try to keep things straight here.

There’s never been a better mentor to young embalmers nor has there ever been someone with such a gift in this business as Tony.  Tony welcomed me with open arms on my very first day at Whitten Funeral Home as the “new girl/apprentice” and we hit it off that very day.  There were so many meaningful chats, jokes, silly conversations, trips to the gun range, meals, drinks, desserts (like the first day DQ had pumpkin pie blizzards and he rushed his salad eating apprentice there for a treat) and just all around GOOD times.   Tony taught me so much in the short time that I knew him and I still had so much left to learn BUT I will continue to make him proud as a Funeral Director/Embalmer and I will miss him terribly.  The void at Whitten’s will be incredibly hard to fill and I send my love to his family.

I’ll see ya on the other side my friend.  Until then, I told my Mom to show you around up there!

June, Re and Austin Wayne- I’m truly so very sorry to hear of Tony’s passing.  I know this was such a shock to you all.  I pray for comfort for you all with each passing day.  I love you !

I met Tony through our family hardware store in Lynchburg when I was a teenager. Tony was a friend, and customer, of my family store for all of my life. I always enjoyed talking with him when he stopped in. I am thankful to have known him and thankful for his help after my Grandfather passed. Tony will be missed.  

Ant-Knee Wayne was a dear fun loving person. Always had a way of saying things and making you laugh until you couldn’t breathe. My heart is sad you left this world without saying goodbye.  We went way back to being teenagers. He and my dad worked together for years. Two clowns always playing tricks on people. I will miss hearing your laugh and words of wisdom.  I will cherish our memories .  Love you my friend 

I met Tony through my Niece and Nephew who had a Kettle Korn and Italian Ice business.  Tony helped with the Kettle Korn and I with the Italian Ice.  We spent many Memorial Days, 4th of Julys and Labor Days at Wintergreen and all of them were a blast!  Tony and  my nephew were always joking and cutting up!  There were many laughs and many memories shared and though I only knew Tony for a short while, but the memories will last a life time!

Tony has been my friend since I was 17 I'm 58 he was always so kind and loving his face lit up the room and his smile was like the sunshine he had the biggest heart this world was a better place because he was in it I will never ever forget him I loved him he was my friend... I became friends with Tony during high school. Shared many experiences growing up as teenagers. I wish I had spent more time with him in the recent years. He lived just down the street and I would see him cutting grass or getting in or out of his truck. Always smiling and waving. He definitely will be missed.

I will remember my cousin Anthony for his smile, his laughter, kind heartedness.  I have many fond memories from my childhood growing up with Anthony and Teresa.  Many prayers to my family, I am so sorry.  I love you all♡♡♡

Tony was a delightful soul who would always greet you with a smile. He often would visit our establishment and enjoy a meal with us. Sometimes by himself after a long day or with a group of co-workers after work to unwind. He will be sorely missed by our Staff as they all have great memories of him! May God rest his soul.
