Arlene Virginia Almond Richardson

Arlene Virginia Almond Richardson, 83, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at her daughter Michelle’s residence in Apex, NC. She was the loving wife of the late George Everett Richardson.
Born on October 3, 1935 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Almond and the late Eva Johnson Almond. Arlene enjoyed being a wife and mother and spending time with her family. She was an active member of the Lynchburg Church of the Brethren. She loved vacations at the beach, knitting and sewing.
Arlene is survived by her children, Karen Simpson and husband Kirk, Starla Richardson and husband Dale Alderman, Michelle Buckingham and husband Brad, and Courtney Destasio and husband Darrin; six grandchildren, Dr. Nicholas Simpson and wife Kate, Cameron Simpson and wife Jessica, Chase Alderman, Logan Alderman, Riley Destasio, and Reece Destasio; eight great grandchildren; four very special Grand Dogs; and special friend and neighbor, Velma Kidd.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors Making House Calls and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care during this difficult time. Also a special thank you to individuals, Pam Jones RN, Michelle Episale, Shamika Thorpe, Nicole Ross, Michelle Booke and countless others that made her remaining time special.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lynchburg Church of the Brethren.
