He was born in Lynchburg on October 6, 1948, son of the late Arthur Royal Brooks and Margaret N. Brooks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Brooks and his brother-in-law Keith Hudnall whom he considered his best friend.
Arthur was an Electrician by trade and an avid history buff. He coined himself the nickname “Parking lot prospector” which described his interest in finding unusual items on his daily walks near his home which he displayed in mason jars. His greatest joy in life however came from being with his Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren whom he loved spending time with.
He is survived by his son Trevor Brooks and his wife Sandy; two grandchildren Kendall Jenkins and her husband David, Hunter Brooks and his fiancé Brianna; two great-grandchildren Scarlette Brooks, Embree Jenkins and one on the way, Archer Brooks as well as his sister, Cynthia Hudnall.
A graveside service will be conducted at Fort Hill Memorial Park at 2:00pm on Thursday, September 16th, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN, 38105 (www.stjude.org) where Arthur gave monthly contributions for many years and was an avid supporter of their cause. The family also requests contributions can be made to Centra Hospice, 1920 Atherholt Rd, Lynchburg VA, 24501 for the compassionate care showed to Arthur.
