Barbara Wright Hamilton

Barbara Wright Hamilton, 88, of Lynchburg passed away surrounded by those who loved her. She was born on December 19, 1934, daughter of the late Johnson Orville Wright and Mabel Callahan Wright. Barbara was a devoted and affectionate wife who found joy in nurturing her green thumb, cultivating a diverse array of flowers and plants. Gardening was her sanctuary, a place where she discovered solace and tranquility. Her culinary skills were equally renowned, as she delighted in preparing delicious meals that brought warmth and comfort to those fortunate enough to taste her creations. In addition to her passion for gardening and cooking, Barbara selflessly offered her services as a babysitter for many years, providing love and care to numerous children. She was also a dedicated volunteer at Centra Hospital, extending her kindness to those in need. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church on Timberlake Road. However, above all else, Barbara will forever be remembered for her life's mission: tending to her cherished granddaughters. She showered them with boundless love and affection, ensuring that they were surrounded by the deepest wells of her care and devotion. Barbara's legacy is one of love, nurturing, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Willard Hamilton; her son J. Dale Hamilton; and her sister Shirley W. Lewis. Those left to cherish Barbara’s memory include her daughter Brenda H. Pollard and her husband Danny; her granddaughters Heather Renee Schaub and her husband Cory, Hanna Pollard-Sims and her husband Waylon; and her great grandson Eden James Sims. A celebration of life service will be held at Whitten Timberlake Chapel on Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at 11:00 am, officiated by Pastor Mike Dodson. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 10:00–10:45 prior to the service.
