Barbara Johnson Reid

Born in Charlotte, Co., November 1, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Roger Johnson and Patty Yeatts Johnson. Barbara was a graduate of the Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and was retired from the Lynchburg Health Department where she worked as a Lab Technician. She had also worked for the Liberty University call center. Barbara was an avid quilter having won several awards for quilt design. Her designs were featured on the cover of several books. Barbara was an active member of Thomas Road Baptist Church where she very much enjoyed serving in the choir.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Brady D. Losh.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Allison B. Losh of Lynchburg; one daughter Grace Verderosa of Farmingdale, NY; one sister, Nancy Baker of Randolph, VA; one brother, Elton Johnson of South Boston and one grandson, Tyler of Lynchburg.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2011 at Thomas Road Baptist Church, Pate Chapel, with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating, after which the family will receive friends until 9:00 p.m. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Thomas Road Baptist Church Music Department, 1 Mountain View Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502 or the Campbell County Rescue Squad.
