Barbara Newton Wood

Barbara Newton Wood, 74, of Huddleston passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Aubrey “Richard” Wood. Born in Lynchburg on January 8, 1948 she was a daughter of the late Jesse Newton and Mable Newton. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Barker. She is survived by her daughter, Holly Hatley and husband James of Huddleston; five siblings, Curtis Newton of Lynchburg, Tommy Newton and his wife Judy of Rustburg, Wayne Newton and his wife Rita of Yorktown, Ann Cofflin of Lynchburg, and Audrey Fields and husband John of Ohio; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 pm Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
