I had the honor of meeting Barry in 1996 when he was working the Earl Bramblett case
 I was the man that hired Bramblett when he fled to South Carolina.
I enjoyed getting to know Barry as he and I had many phone conversations after the arrest of Bramblett.
Barry was a wonderful asset to the Commonwealth and a very admirable man.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Barry's passing.   He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  To his children, grandchildren and sister Linda....my thoughts and prayers are with you. 
Even though I joined in1968 and retired 27 years later from the U.S. Air Force in 1994, I kept track of Barry's State Police Career and was proud of all he accomplished.

Dear Family –

May the joys you knew and the times you shared help comfort you during this time of sadness.  Barry was one of the best Investigators that VSP ever had. I know this fact as he and I were assigned to the VSP Criminal Intelligence Unit in the mid-1970’s and his work was superior.  
Barry always spoke the most beautiful remarks about his family to me even though they were hundreds  of miles away.   That accents the love of his family as well as working for VSP.
Heaven now has one Superior Soul to grace it.

Barry was a fine man who worked hard for, and cared deeply about, justice.  He even pursued justice into other states on his own time.  I was pleased to call him friend and colleague.  RIP, Barry.   

I have many fond memories of Barry and our days at Rustburg High School.  He and I shared a love of law enforcement and we stayed in contact over the years.  He was a great guy and a true patriot.

Our deepest sympathy to all of Barry's family. We came to know his kindness and friendship at the Summit when we visited family there. Also, I found by chance that Barry was a cousin to my best buddy Wayne Godsey at Lynchburg College and he was brother to his special sister and Wayne's mom, Frances. We know he is in a better place now with no more pain.

I am so very sad to hear of Mr Keesee’s passing. My heartfelt condolences to the Keesee family.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Barry. I have so many memories of  your Dad. He was truly Northside's Number One fan. One memory that's stands out is the basketball game we played with all of the fans wearing the bright yellow lais. He had handed them out to everyone. 
You could surely tell who the Viking fans were. He even brought one over to me & I wore the entire game. He is a legend for sure. My prayers go out to all of you.

Dear Keith, Ken, Kristy and family,

You have our deepest sympathy in the loss of your father.  I fondly recall our times together in the 44th Basic Session at the VSP Training School (now Academy) in 1966 as we car-pooled together on the weekends from our homes in Rustburg and Lynchburg.  Barry was a true leader for our class as he had already “probated” for nearly a year before attending Basic Training!  Barry rightly earned the respect and admiration of all who knew him during our training and throughout his exemplary career.  He was truly dedicated to his family and has left a wonderful legacy in each of you, as well as the VSP and the law enforcement profession.  Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Ken, Keith, Kristy. I was a new detective at RPD when I first met your Dad.  I had "heard stories" and yes he was larger than life. There are few words to comfort the loss of a parent.  I know the coming weeks and months will be filled with wonderful stories of a life well lived.  I am thankful for his service to our Country and Virginia.  Prayers for peace and comfort for all during this time.

My condolences to the Keesee family.  Mr. Keesee was a fixture at Amherst County softball and baseball games rooting on his grandkids and the other players as well.  Always enjoyed seeing him and talking sports.   He was a great guy!

My sincere condolences to all of Barry's family.  May your memories of all the good times provide you with comfort.  Unless Barry's personality has changes, he would definitely prefer a celebration of his life.

My memories of Barry go back many years and I can not recall the last time that I did see Barry although I have heard a lot about his accomplishments in life.  My family was close with the Keesee family for many years.  One of the memories that I will always cherish is that of having toast with peanut butter and apple butter at their house...something that I still do today!  I also remember attending many high school basketball games in which Barry was always the star!

I wish that I had stayed in touch over the years but our families and our lives took different directions as they so often do.  I do hope that the many great memories of Barry will be of comfort.  My thoughts are with the entire family.

I didn't know him that well but when I first meet him he was so nice and I loved talking to him.Prayers for all the family.

Barry is a personal friend and excellent VSP Criminal Investigator.  We joined the newly formed Criminal Intelligence Unit in 1973 and worked closely in many criminal inquiries.  We later worked on Major Crimes cases and matters of mutual interest.  I attended the funeral for Barry's Father.  Judy and I now sadly wish condolences to his family as he departs this life and moves on to 'God's Kingdom.

I am sorry to hear about Barry’s death.  I will never forget his smile and how he smiled even more when talking about his grandchildren.   He was always a pleasure to be around.  Prayers for the family.

My first experience with the Keesee’s came when one of “the boys” talked me through a middle of the night panic attack- called me back and even sent a trooper over to check on me (Steve was in Chicago). Good people .....and then fate had Barry and Peggy walk into my life. Me as their dental hygienist! Peggy hated it “give me every bit of Novocain you got” but Barry- literally larger than life bellows “I ain’t like Peggy- I like it when you dig!” It was hard to “dig” because he was always talking- telling me a story. “Lower your voice Barry!” When he wasn’t talking he and I would start laughing .  He’d grab my hand And say, “you knew what I was thinking, didn’t you?” Indeed I did- we shared this ESP that few would understand.  He knew most people would not believe. I believed. 

When Peggy died his heart was broken and he didn’t mind wearing that on his sleeve. He was so grateful to have his kids there for him- the baseball. He was so proud.

Gosh, Just knowing he no longer walks this earth saddens me. I hope he is aggravating Peggy once again. ❤️

My heart is broken for all of our family but know he is with his true love and in a better place.  I remember when Barry, Peggy, Ken and Keith lived with us for a while in Prince George.  I had just started to drive and Barry wanted me to take Randi's red Volkswagon bug and take him somewhere.  We were getting on I-95 and the interstate was a new thing to me.  I started merging onto the interstate and picked up my speed and he was screaming slow down, slow down, you cannot "merge" unless you see no cars are in the lane, almost  putting his feet through the floor board, I thought he was going to stop the car with his feet.  He never rode with me again?  He was a great influence on me as a teenager...yes I was scared to death he would catch me doing something I shouldn't .  He kept me on the straight and narrow!
