"We have an old tradition I believe to be service wide, it's one that salutes our brothers who have passed to the other side. A single rose by a turn down glass resides at the table's end, a tiny bit of nostalgia and a tribute to absent friends. Each in his turn will look that way and each with his cup a brim, each will remember a fellow Veteran, as there's Frank, Tommy or Gordon. There are those names that escape us and those we can't recall, long history dims identity, but we drink to them one and all. When my earthly life is over and to the table's end I pass, future Veterans will remember and turn down an empty glass."
I always enjoyed you and Betty's company and the joy you always had in your heart. You were a good Soldier and served proudly.
"Slow Salute."

In 8th grade at Robert E Lee,I had the biggest crush on Gordon. The last time I saw him was after my husband died (Mac Blankenship also a Vietnam veteran). At a dinner for VFW in 2003. I told him then about my silly crush. Not sure if he ever knew Mac. Mac was Chaplain of Purple Heart at League. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. Always thought a lot of Gordon. The picture is from high school. I wish you and your family the best in the in the future.
Love Betty Blankenship

Blessings & prayers for Bettie & all of Gordon's family & friends. I'm heartbroken over the news of Gordon's passing. We were neighbors, friends. They both came over & visited us many times. I always enjoyed his sense of humor & his deep love for his dear wife Bettie. Gordon, you will be gone from our sight but never from our heart.
