

Born in Lynchburg, May 27, 1944, he was a son of the late Roger Kern Blankenship and Mamie Ethel Carrico Blankenship. He proudly served our country in the US Navy.
Survivors include two sons, Roger E. Blankenship and Bernard “Jay” Blankenship, Jr. both of Lynchburg; one daughter, Wanda B. Taylor of Appomattox; two brothers, Oscar Lee Blankenship of Spout Spring and Earl Wayne Blankenship of Lynchburg; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren and his former wife and friend, Jamie Blankenship.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 31, 2015 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2014. at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel with the Rev. Mike Dodson officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 1014 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Centra Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Mr. Blankenship.
