Betty was preceded in death by her parents Charlie T. and Virgie Mae Ashwell, as well as her beloved husband of 39 years, James L. Arthur. Betty joins her 9 siblings rejoicing in heaven; Kathleen Ooten (Howard), Marvin Ashwell (Maggie), Alvin Ashwell (Vera), Charlie Ashwell (Louise), Christine Dancey (Denver), Phyllis Peters (William), Joe Ashwell (Sheila), Sam Ashwell (Joanna), and Shirley Garcia (Roy).
Betty is survived by her children Jimmy Arthur (Carolyn), Donna West (Sid), and Carolyn Arthur.
Also surviving are her grandchildren and great-granchildren: Daniel Arthur (Kristi, daughters Addie & Callie), Chris Arthur (son Ayden), Matt West (Macy, daughters Millie & Etta), Dustin West (Jaimee), James Williams (Mariah, son Jack) and Caleb Williams.
A visitation for Betty will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Rd, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502, followed by a funeral service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Betty will be laid to rest Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Fort Hill Memorial Park, 5196 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502.
Serving as pallbearers are Daniel Arthur, Chris Arthur, Matt West, Dustin West, James Williams and Caleb Williams.
