She was preceded in death by her husband Paul William Chaney. Prior to Paul’s death in 1992, Betty and Paul were married 28 years and they made their home in Concord, VA. Born and raised in Bedford County, she was the daughter of Nellie Grant Baker Phillips and Lornza V. Phillips, Sr.
Betty was a lifetime Christian and was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Concord. She was lovingly cared for by her nephew, Michael Patrick Shane Auth and her youngest sister, Nancy Phillips Auth.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
