Born on June 25, 1933 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. Almond and Anna S. Almond. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Thomas L. Jefferson; son Bruce Jefferson and two sisters, Nancy Moon and Peggy Robertson.
Jean loved taking care of her home and spending time with her family. She was employed for over 24 years with Verizon prior to her retirement. She loved to go to the beach, enjoyed gardening and loved her spending time with her dogs. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Memorial Christian Church.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter Laura Shannon; granddaughters Sarah S. Davis (Justin) and Taylor Jefferson and great-granddaughter, Piper Jefferson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Virginia Memorial Park with Pastor J. Mike Dodson officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
