Beverly Jean Lutz

Beverly (Beve) Jean Schatz Lutz departed this life with the same grace and kindness that defined her. Known for her big heart and boundless compassion, Beve was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and pillar of her community. She passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of generosity, laughter, and devotion.

Beve was born in Pontiac, Michigan on December 15, 1937. She grew up in Fenton Michigan and married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) I. Lutz, in August of 1958. They relocated to Southern California to follow his career in the space industry. Three children were born there – Kelley Lea, Robert Charles, and Jeffery Allen. In 1973, the Lutz family moved to Lynchburg, VA. Beve took a job as business manager for WSET 13 TV. After 27 years of service, she retired in December 1999. Bob and Beve relocated to Panama City Beach, Florida to enjoy their golden years.

Beve dedicated herself to the well-being of others, embodying a warmth that touched everyone she encountered. A devoted churchgoer, she found her deepest purpose in serving her congregation. Her tireless work at the Gulf Beach Presbyterian Church food bank—now named in her honor—is a testament to her impact and selflessness. She worked humbly and lovingly, ensuring that those in need found both nourishment and kindness.

Beve and Bob shared a love of adventure that led them around the world. When not exploring distant places, they took to the open road in their cherished RV, traveling all over the United States and Canada. They especially treasured their summers in Talkeetna, Alaska, where they found peace in the breathtaking landscapes and a welcoming community.

Her love of music was infectious, bringing joy to all who heard her sing. As a longtime member of her church choir and Sweet Adelines, Beve shared her beautiful voice in harmony with others, enriching the lives of her fellow choir members and audience alike.

An exceptionally talented craftswoman, Beve used her skills to create cherished gifts for her family. Over the years, she knitted over 50 Christmas stockings, each one a labor of love. Whenever there was a marriage or birth, Beve picked up her knitting needles to add another beloved stocking to the collection - a tradition her family will forever hold dear.

Beve is predeceased by her husband, Robert I. Lutz; her daughter, Kelley Lutz Steburg; and her granddaughter, Kristina Osheva Lutz. She is survived by her sons Robert Charles Lutz and Jeffery Allen Lutz (Lisa), grandchildren Robert Jordan Lutz (Catie), Megann Lutz Ashley (Shawn), Patrick Ross Lutz, and Joshua Allen Lutz (Alana), greatgrandchildren Gracelyn Milne, Roman Ashley, and Shelby Ashley. Her family will forever remember her generosity, her vibrant stories, and her loving spirit.

Her legacy is one of generosity, faith, and love. Beve’s family and community will feel her absence deeply but will carry forward her spirit of kindness, dedication, and joy.

May her memory be a blessing, inspiring all who were lucky enough to know her.
