Bobby Wayne Hughes

Bobby Wayne Hughes, 64, of Lynchburg, died, Wednesday, January 9, 2013. He was the husband of Addie Jennette Hughes for 21 years. Born January 23, 1948, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Harry Andrew Hughes, Sr. and the late Beatrice Miller Hughes. Bobby was a retired welder for ESP Inc. and he was of the Baptist faith. He also served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Bobby also was a member of Moose Lodge 615, the American Legion Post 16 and the Bass Federation. In addition to his wife, Bobby is survived by his sons, Robert Andrew Hughes and Mitchell Wayne Hughes and his wife Paula, all of Lynchburg; two step-daughters, Kimberly Faith Toone of Lynchburg and Tammy N. Robinson of South Hill; one step-son, Troy E. Newcomb of Tracy, CA; one brother, Harry Andrew Hughes of Lynchburg; three sisters, Shirley Hughes Tomlins of Lynchburg, Juanita Hughes Franklin of Concord and Janice Hughes Horn of Lynchburg; three brothers-in-law, Ronnie M. Covington and his wife Emily of Campbell County, Kenneth N. Covington of Drakes Branch and Thomas C. Covington of Red Oak; three grandchildren, Hunter Hughes, Caleb Hughes and Lindsey Hughes; five step-grandchildren, Skyler Kathryn Cash, Tristan Newcomb, T.J. Newcomb, Joshua Robinson and Tavin Newcomb; and his best friends, Ronnie “R.D.” Daniels, John Roberts, Barry Blankenship R.C. North, Phillip Hargis, Horace Loving and Wayne Jones. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Mr. David Hendricks officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Mount Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Drakes Branch, Virginia. The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
