

Born in Lynchburg on Russell St., November 17, 1933, he was the son of the late Carl W. Overstreet and Ruth A. Overstreet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy B. Overstreet and a stepson, Gilbert L. “Gilly” Bullock, Jr.
Carlton was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and attended two schools while in the U.S.
Army, Radio Repair School in Georgia and an Electronic School in Japan. He went on to serve three years in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for General Electric in Lynchburg, for 18 years as a Draftsman, Tool Designer and Methods Specialist. From GE he worked for Aerotron, in Raleigh, N.C., for nine years manufacturing two-way radios, to Myrtle Beach, S.C. as an electrician and to Spring Lake, N.J. as a Manufacturing Engineer for 12 years with E&M Electronics. He retired from E&M and moved back to Lynchburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dale G. Overstreet (Wife Ami) and Edward L. Overstreet; one daughter, Pamela Collier (Husband Bruce); three stepdaughters, Penny Burke (Companion Tim), Mercedes Bullock (Companion Hans) and Jean O’Neal (Companion Steve); a brother-in-law, William Abbey (Dona) as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also, a longtime friend of the family, Linda Vitrano.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Interment will follow with military honors by the American Legion Post 16, at Virginia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
