
Caskie Eugene Burnette, 88, of Lynchburg, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mildred Florine Tinnell Burnette. He was born December 3, 1922, in Lynchburg, to the late John P. Burnette and Bertha Jamerson Burnette.
Mr. Burnette was a retired mechanic for Hoskins Pontiac and a member of Christian Chapel. Mr. Burnette also served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Burnette is preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Witt and one brother, Clinton Burnette.
Mr. Burnette is survived by one daughter, Sharon B. Kulp and her husband Durwood of Lynchburg; two sons, Delmus E. Burnette of Lynchburg and Reggie Lee Burnette and his wife Joan of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will take place 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Ray Triplett officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
