
Charles Ashby Padgett, Sr., 79, of Concord, died, Monday, September 17, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Juanita Anderson Padgett. Born May 1, 1933, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Paulous Ashby Padgett and the late Martha Fitzgerald Padgett.
Charles was a retired industrial maintenance mechanic for the Lynchburg Foundry Company, and he was a member of Tyreeana United Methodist Church. He also served our country in the US Marines during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one son, Timmy Oliver Padgett; and four siblings.
In addition of his wife, Charles is survived by three step-children, Erick S. Smith of South Carolina, James C. Smith and his wife Marie of Rustburg and Robert R. Smith of Concord; five children, Charles A. Padgett, II and his wife Kim of Amherst, Katherine Myra P. Newman of Amherst, Janet M. Frye of Ashville, NC, Randall C. Padgett of South Carolina and Phyllis Williams of Lynchburg; four siblings, Elizabeth Harold of Jarratt, Clyde Padgett of Dinwiddie, Barbara Hollaway of Jarratt and Elsie Newsome of Emporia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted, 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2012, at the Padgett residence with Chaplain Harold Bryant officiating.
Memorial contributions my be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
