

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called home Rev. Charles Anderson Sowers and he answered that call on Friday, October 28, 2016, at his residence. He was the husband to his devoted wife, Sheila Goodman Sowers. Born January 17, 1939, in Roanoke, he was the son of the late Rev. Kenly Mentzer Sowers and the late Ollie Mae Wade Sowers.
Charles was a retired pastor for Rock Pike Baptist Church, and he also served seven years with the Lynchburg Police Department. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his two former wives, Ann Funk Sowers and Alice Fay Parker Sowers; and two siblings, David Sowers and Lois S. Johnson.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his three children, Erin, Cammie and Cindy; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor John Sines, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2016, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Campbell County Rescue Squad or Rock Pike Baptist Church.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Centra Hospice for their outstanding care for Rev. Sowers. The family would also like to acknowledge appreciation to Keester McGuire, Marie Dryden and their families to help carry out Rev. Sowers’ wishes to remain at home.
