Pop, Early Monday morning the Lord called back one of his greatest and most faithful creations to spend eternity with Him.  Pop was a great servant of the Lord, and I never saw, not heard of him, saying a cross word to anyone.  Well unless you tried to slow him down at the dinner table.  speaking of words there are three that always come to mind when I think of Pop.  Those words are, "I love you."  In the eighteen years I was blessed enough to spend with him I cannot remember a single time he didn't kiss me on the forehead and tell me "Ilove you."  
That devotion and love is even more shown in his long lasting marriage.  In today's world marriages sometimes last for weeks, but Pop hung on to my dearest grandmother for 69 years.  That alone is an inspiration to myself as to what kind of man pop was.  Furthermore, Pop bestowed many great qualities within his children.  The most prominent of which is an outstanding work ethic.  As far back as I can remember Pop was not simply helping, but more in charge of any building project.  There wasn't a thing he wouldn't or couldn't do and he gave everything his all.  Even when his age limited as to how helpful he could be physically he was still monitoring the progress of everyone else.  
Pop also passed down a sense of humor that is easy to see within his family.  Last night I was told a story by Marvin Honeycutt about how Pop uses to tormenthim in his sleep by taking a feather by rubbing it over his nose again and again.  That story sounded familiar because my dad never wastes an opportunity to do that to me or anyone else he can think to torment.  perhaps my favorite story was when my aunt Charlotte was coming back from Roanoke with Pop.  He had fallen asleep and Charlotte was stopped by a cop and when Pop awoke and saw the officer he looked at Charlotte and simply said, "Speeding again."   
Maybe the most noticeable quality that Pop passed down to us all was a love of food.  Because if you know any of us, you'll know that the Martin's love to eat and we don't like waiting for it.  Pop didn't wait for a soul when it came to dinner.  At every cookout or family dinner someone would always make the mistake of getting Pop his plate first and by the time everyone else was seated he had long since finished and was wondering why dessert was taking so long. 
Pop we will always love you, you were a great inspiration to us all and I thank you for all of the memories you provided us with.  Also, thank you for all of the times you babysat us and played with us as children.  And while we will miss you dearly, I know you're watching over us from Heaven and I look forward to seeing you again someday.  we love you, Pop.

Thank you again for the truly wonderful life you enabled me to have. The things I love and enjoy the most are the things you taught me and the things we did together. I've been so Blessed to have the best parents God ever put on this earth and I'm thankful. You are the greatest man I have ever known. I will always be grateful for the life you lived, the example you set and the quiet strength and character you lived by. I'm so proud of you and thankful for the great memories I'll cherish forever. Charlie was a father that all men should strive to be like. As a young child when my family (Sheriff family)  moved from Henderson  NC to Brookneal VA I felt that was the end of my world until I came to know the Martin Family. I  became close friends with Charlotte and Charlie and Belle were like second parents to me.  Over  the years our families grew closer and loved each other more and more.
