He was born March 18, 1925, in Prince William County, a son of the late William and Hannah Austin.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Edna Blankenship Austin; two brothers, Alvin Austin and Russell Austin; and two sisters, Thelma Rawlings and Eleanor Toone.
Mr. Austin attended High School in Northern Virginia. He entered the Army in 1943 to serve his country. In October 1944 he participated in the liberation of the Philippines. He returned to the United States and remained in the hospital for nine months. He was employed by the Federal Government for thirty-one & half years. Prior to retirement he was the Safety Director of the Marine Corps base in Quantico, VA. He is a long time member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Shriners and Disabled American Veterans.
He leaves to cherish his memories shared with six nieces, Ann Toone (VA), Janice Russell (VA), Mary Felini (TX), Joyce Keeley (MO), Cecilia Ford (FL), Bonnie Dooley (TX); two nephews, Wayne Austin (AL) and Donnie Rawlings (VA).

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00p.m., Friday, November 30, 2012, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Whitaker officiating.
