Clyde Cornelius Johnson, Jr.

A hardworking and talented man, Tony built a career as a welder, licensed waste treatment operator for BWXT, and cabinet maker. He took pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand. He was a faithful member of Gather Lynchburg and was also a member of the Buckingham Hunting Club.

Tony had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, cruising, and winter ski trips. One of his greatest joys was gathering with family for his famous fish fries, where stories, laughter, and good food brought everyone together. Of all his adventures, his favorite was a memorable cruise to Alaska.

Those who knew Tony will remember him most for simply being himself. He never met a stranger and seemed to have a nickname for everyone he met. His familiar response of "Just peachy" became one of his many trademark sayings. He loved making people laugh, especially the children, whom he delighted in teasing, joking with, and getting wound up. His quick wit, playful spirit, and genuine kindness made every gathering brighter.

In addition to his parents, Tony is preceded in death by a beloved son, Terry lee Johnson.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Vickie M. Johnson; his sister, Patsy Waller (Lee); his children, Cheryl Brooks (Ronnie), Tina Painter (Brandon), and Melissa Pulliam (Brian); his grandchildren, Joshua Brooks (Chelsea), Kelsie Rush (Michael), Logan Brooks (Logan), Carter Brooks, Haley Brooks, Austin Pulliam, Mason Painter, Tiffany Pulliam, and Addison Painter; his great-grandchildren, Cash Brooks, Lawson Brooks, Raife Brooks, and Tate Brooks; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Gather Lynchburg, with Fred Williams and Lisa Medinger officiating. Military honors will be rendered by American Legion Post #16.

Though Tony's presence will be deeply missed, his laughter, love for family, unforgettable sayings, and joyful spirit will continue to live on in the memories of those who were blessed to know him. His life was a reminder to enjoy the simple things, cherish time with loved ones, and always greet life with a smile and a hearty "Just peachy."
