He was born on July 24, 1933 in Brookneal, son of the late Conley P. St. John, Sr. and Lillie S. St. John.
Pete was a loving father and grandfather who served in the United States Army and was retired from Coleman Adams.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by a son, Michael Tommy St. John and wife Irma of CA, a daughter, Sandra Large of CA; son in law, Rodney Layne of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Ashley D. Layne of Lynchburg, Stephanie Scarlett, Stacie Bishop, and Andrea Gonzales, all of CA; a sister, Ruby Torrence of Rustburg as well as eight great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon – 1:30 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel followed by a 2:00 pm graveside service at Spring Hill Cemetery.
