Corneda "Kitty" Wood

She was born on July 11, 1925, in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late Annie and William Via. She retired as a payroll clerk from the Chapstick Co. after 45 years of service. She was also a member of the Parkview United Methodist Church. Along with her husband and parents, Kitty was preceded in death by her son Chet L. Wood, and her five sisters: Irene V. Rorer, Leona V. Scruggs, Nadine Via, Grady V. Lyons, and Lilly V. Burks.

Kitty is survived by her two sons: Larry N. Wood, and his wife Sandra, of Salem, and Kent P. Wood, and his wife Sandra, of Manhatten, KA; her sister, Christine Bagby, of Concord; her two grandchildren: Christopher N. Wood of Alexandria, and Kimberly W. Dameron of Salem, and her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Dameron, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Rev. C. Randall Harlow officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
