Obituary of Daniel (Danny) Thornton Adams Sr.
Daniel “Danny” Thornton Adams, Sr., 70 of Rustburg, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 with his family by his side, when he went to be with the Lord. Born October 5, 1950 in Bedford, VA, he was the son of the late Henry Thornton Adams and Joan Faye Slough Adams. He remained committed to his country after serving two tours in the Vietnam War as a Sergeant Class E-5. During this time, he met Yukie Adams who remained his long time love, friend, and mother to their two children. Danny retired after 31 years from B&W. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, starting his 31 year career with B&W in the machine shop, retiring from B&W as a Health and Safety Inspector. Outside of the office, you could find Danny on the coast of Virginia fishing, hunting around the Blue Ridge Mountains or tearing up the roads on his Harley. He enjoyed exploring the outdoors any chance he could get. Danny shared his love for fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren by the Chesapeake Bay and the Outer Banks. Some knew him as “Thumper” and others knew him as “Big Papa”. He was a tough, steadfast family man. Although he is no longer with us, you can keep his memory alive by doing the following, in times where the going gets tough, get tougher and always stand up for what you believe in. Danny is survived by his beloved Yukie Adams, his daughter, Wendy A. Hedrick and husband Dale of South Carolina; his son, Daniel T. Adams, Jr. and wife, Samantha of Rustburg, VA; two brothers, David Adams of Lynchburg, VA, and Dennis Adams of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Laura Ballowe of Forest, VA and Beth Adams of Roanoke, VA and five grandchildren, Savanna, Daniel, III, Emily, Dana, and Grayson. Thank you for taking the time to remember Danny. The family encourages you to share your memories below. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
