David Barker, Sr., 83, of Lynchburg, died, Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Eva Reid Barker. Born July 26, 1929, in Danville, he was the son of the late Howard Barker and the late Janie Aherron Barker.
Mr. Barker was a retired welder for Lynchburg Steel, and he was a loving husband and father.
Mr. Barker is survived by his son Dave Barker, Jr. of Rustburg.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Dick Vannoy officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
