

David was born in Lynchburg on March 15, 1953. He was a mechanic and a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles. He also enjoyed traveling.
David is survived by his parents David Inge and Hilda Parker Garrett of Rustburg; his daughter, Abby Garrett of Lynchburg; one sister, Cynthia Phelps and husband Dale of Forest; one brother, Richard Garrett of Winston Salem, NC; his girlfriend, Belinda Harris of Forest; his aunt and uncle, Ruth and Percy Thompson of Rustburg; his aunts, Arlene Glisan of Wellsville, PA and Louise Franklin of Vera; two nephews, Landon Dunkley and wife Amanda of Midlothian and Justin Dunkley of Stephen City; his best friend, Barry Seigla and wife Kara of Forest; and numerous other friends.
A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be conducted on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service till 8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Lynchburg Unit Office, 2050 Langhorne Rd., Suite 201, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
