David Ricky Routon

David Ricky Routon, 57, of Gladys, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015, at his residence. He was the husband of Elizabeth Darlene Routon. Born December 17, 1957, in Lynchburg, he was the son of David P. Routon and the late Geraldine Peek Routon.

David was a retired nurse. He attended Jefferson Forest High School and graduated from DeVry University. David was a former employee of Texas Instruments and a retired nurse as he graduated from Roanoke Memorial School of Nursing. He was also an accomplished author.

In addition to his mother, David was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Farrah Fitz.

In addition to his wife and father, David is survived by his stepson, Brandon Epperson and his wife Becky of Rustburg; his son-in-law, Brian Fitz of Rustburg; brother, Derek Heath Routon of Rustburg; sister, Serena Propst of Waynesboro; mother-in-law, Ellen Heatwole of Gladys; two grandsons, Cameron Epperson and A.J. Yost, both of Rustburg; two granddaughters, Madison Fitz and Morgan Fitz, both of Rustburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Chaplain Tony Bates officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Campbell County Humane Society/Animal Shelter.
